How to Adopt One of Our Bengals?
How do I Know You are a Good Ethical Breeder?
" You don't so do your homework. In our opinion a very high percentage of the Bengal breeders in Ontario are not good ethical breeders. A good start to see if we are the breeder you wish to work with is to spend some time on this website. "
How do I Become a Member of the Family?
" We are a small cattery using excellent genetics to produce exceptional Bengals which we place at very reasonable prices when compared to our peers. There are precious few top quality Bengal catteries in Canada and we are one of them. We can afford to be picky and we are. Spend some time on our website and drop us an email telling us about you, your home and your expectations from a Bengal. If it all goes well and we have a kitten that feels correct for you we will welcome you into our family. "
Why do You Strongly Prefer Email Communication over Phone Calls?
" Emails simply work much better for us as we both work full time. We get far to many hits on our website to talk to everyone in person. The counter on the bottom of pages was only installed May 15th, 2011. I answer most inquires and although, or rather perhaps because, the aquarium store is attached to the house I typically put in 60+ hours a week and then sit down and start answering emails. I try and not work on Sundays so keep that in mind if you are waiting on a response. "
" We generally do not allow clients to view kittens until they are fully weaned and had their first shots. That is usually around 6 weeks although we are considering changing it to 8 weeks. Until that point kittens are very susceptible to a variety of communicable diseases and parasites, several of which can be tracked in on your hands or clothes. "
When do You Start Accepting Deposits on a Litter?
" We generally do not take deposits until the kittens are 8 weeks old because it is hard to fully evaluate a kitten until it is at least 8 weeks old. For example kittens younger then 8 weeks often display a faint heart murmur because the valves in their heart have not fully developed. We have only ever produced one kitten that had a murmur last beyond that period and we were extremely disappointed that we did not find out until after the deposit was taken. There are many other developmental issues like breed confirmation and personality that take this time to develop as well. This policy is an attempt to ensure you are as happy as possible with your new companion. "
" The short answer is yes but it is not always that simple. With in Canada it is not to bad at all. It will typically cost you an additional $300 to $400 for most any where in Canada as long as AirCanada has a plane with a pressurized climate controlled cargo bay going to your destination. You will be required to pay in full prior to us shipping a kitten. If you wish to use a escrow service that is fine but you will be responsible for their commission. "
How do You Place the Value on Any Specific Kitten?
" There is quite a number of considerations that effect any kittens valuation. Our Criteria is confirmation to the breed standard, coloration, contrast and pattern as well as the size, placement, type and coloration of a kittens spots and finally personality. We place a lot of weight on personality as it our goal to produce the finest personal companions we can. "
" While it is not required, once we narrow down the candidates we like to meet them in person if possible. We schedule 1 hour appointments in the cattery to visit litters once they are approximately 6 weeks or older. If everyone is satisfied a non-refundable $250 deposit can be made on a kitten. We realize not everyone can make it here and we do allow for that. If you can not make it down for a visit it would be great if you spent a little extra time on your emails about yourself. It helps us try and match a kitten with the right personality to fit in your home and meet your expectations. "
" A non-refundable deposit is required to hold a kitten. It is non-refundable because we stop marketing the kitten as soon as a deposit is made. We accept cash, VISA, Mastercard, Debit Card, Paypal and Interact Direct Bank Transfers both at the cattery and online . We do not accept anything else. "
How Does the Mailing List Work?
What is the point of the list?
" The mailing list is used to send out updates on litters or to announce a new litter. We are a small cattery so if you sign up you will typically get 6 or 7 emails a year from us. "
What relationship does it have to a waiting list?
" The mailing list has no relationship to a waiting list and we do not keep waiting lists. The exception is people that have an existing relationship with us. We have a quite a number of repeat clients as well as existing relationships with some breeders and those folks always get preferential treatment. Reserved kittens will be marked as such so there will be no confusion. "
What do you do with our email address?
" We do not use email addresses for any purpose other then mailing news on litters. Other then backups, we do not store your email address at all. You can leave the list anytime and when you do your information is immediately and automatically deleted from our database. "
